The pathway to the volunteer team / How do I become a volunteer?

Anyone who is interested in volunteering can now get their volunteer application for the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics berlin 2009™ at the following link.

Application

The application to become a volunteer can only be submitted through the website of the Berlin Organising Committee GmbH 2009/BOC (www.berlin2009.org).

The application, which every applicant must fill out online, asks for the following information:

• personal information
• previous volunteer experience
• full-time experience working in sports
• language skills
• further qualifications
• your preference of duties
• the period that you are available to volunteer

The personal interview

Following each application phase, all of the applications will be reviewed and a group of applicants will be selected for a personal interview. It is thus very important that you let us know of any changes to your contact information (telephone number and address) as they take place. If there are any changes, please send us a quick email with your first and last name and your application registration number with both your old and new contact information to volunteers@berlin2009.org.

Specialised Training Sessions

After each applicant has signed and returned the contract to the BOC 2009, he/she will receive an email in which the further steps are outlined.

The specialised training sessions prepare the volunteers for the unique circumstances of the World Championships. The volunteers will get to know the departmental leaders who will be in charge of them during the World Championships.

The exact dates of the training sessions have not yet been set. The first specialised training sessions are likely to begin in May 2009 and will take place until the World Championships get underway.
