German Ambassador receives the organising committee of the World Championships and top US athletes on the Day of German Unity in Washington

On the Day of German Unity, October 3, 2008, the German Ambassador to the USA, Dr. Klaus Scharioth, received representatives of the organising committee of the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics berlin 2009™ (BOC), as well as the top American athletes Bryan Clay, LaShawn Merritt, Shalane Flanagan, and Alan Webb in his residence in Washington, DC.

In less than 19 months, we will be celebrating one of the largest sporting events in the world, the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics berlin 2009™ in the Berlin Olympic Stadium from August 15-23, 2009.

The Berlin Organising Committee 2009 GmbH (BOC 2009 GmbH) has been working hard in preparation of this mega event for some time already. Our aim is to get the spectators, both in the stadiums and watching on TV around the world, excited about the event and to promote global athletics by putting on an excellent event - goals that we are pursuing together with the athletes, our partners, and the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
