Raúl Spank and Robin Schembera went to Berlin for the DFB Football Cup Finals

Two of the “German Faces of the World Championships”, Robin Schembera (800m/ TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen) and Raúl Spank (High Jump/ Dresdner SC 1898), as well as the mascot of the World Championships, Berlino, were part of the DFB (German Football Association) Football Cup Finals in the Berlin Olympic Stadium on Saturday, May 30, 2009.

During the halftime show of the men’s Cup Final between Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Werder Bremen, the two top athletes answered questions about the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics together with the mascot, Berlino, and shared their own expectations about the home-field Championships in the capital.

Michael Mronz, Steering Board member of the World Championships’ Organising Committee commented on the cooperation with the DFB: “The DFB Cup (DFB-Pokal) is one of the most important national sporting events (in Germany), and we are pleased to be able to spark excitement today for the most important sports event i the world for the year 2009 among the sports enthusiasts and football fans.”
