The many construction projects in the city have drawn attention to the metropolis and have thus also drawn investors from around the world to Berlin . Berlin has also become one of the centres of the international world of fashion and an important showplace for congresses and trade fairs. The largest tourism fair in the world, the Internationale Touristik Börse ITB, takes place in Berlin every year, attracting more than 10,000 exhibitors and 150,000 visitors. Many other important international trade fairs take place in Berlin , including the consumer electronics fair Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA), the agricultural expo Internationale Grüne Woche, as well as the youth fairs YOU and Popkomm.

Studies show that each year up to 100,000 events take place in Berlin , attended by more than six million people. That makes Berlin one of the top destinations in the world.
Some of the most important events in Berlin include the Carnival of the Cultures, where diverse ethnic, cultural, and religious groups in Berlin present themselves in a vibrant parade, and Christopher Street Day, in which about half a million people come to the city to participate in a colourful parade celebrating gays and lesbians.
