Trendy Areas/Shopping
The districts of Kreuzberg, Mitte, and Prenzlauer Berg are now some of the most fashionable places in the city. Mitte attracts the masses with its off-galleries, and trendy boutiques and clubs, while Kreuzberg offers a plethora of pubs, bars, and restaurants to a colourful mix of native Berliners and tourists.
The new Potsdamer Platz and the ritzy Friedrichstrasse, together with the historical and attractive boulevard Unter den Linden, are three shopping alternatives near the Brandenburg Gate. All three choice areas are directly connected with the underground line U2.
Berlin has always been known as a metropolis of shopping. The Kurfürstendamm avenue leads 3.5 km through the former western part of the city from the Memorial Church to Halensee and offers something for every taste: from the famous department store KaDeWe and the Europa-Center to the many fashion boutiques to the restaurants and cafes. On mild summer nights, this part of Berlin is open around the clock and allows its guests to enjoy the capital flair at its fullest. About 6,000 restaurants offer culinary delights from around the world.
