On April 2, 2008 , exactly 500 days before the first starting shot of the World Championships in Athletics 2009 in Berlin , ticket sales for the most important sporting event of the year will begin. Day tickets will be available starting at 20 euros, while multi-day tickets for the entire event will begin at 350 euros.

There will be three ticket categories for berlin 2009™. In accordance with the IAAF, the BOC 2009 GmbH organising committee will be offering day tickets for the nine days of events in the categories “1” to “3” (see the stadium graphics). Day tickets range from 20 to 75 euros and are good for all of the events for that day in the Olympic Stadium. The exception to this is Tuesday, August 18, 2009 , for which there will be separate morning and evening tickets.

A 20% discount is available on the day ticket prices for school children, students, and apprentices (up to 27 years of age), the severely disabled (for those with over 50% disability), youth up to age 16, those serving their community or military service, and the unemployed, provided the appropriate documentation is shown. Children under age six have free admittance.

In addition, there are multi-day tickets for the entire course of the event for categories “1” and “2”, which guarantee the same seat for the entire World Championships.

Tickets for the ’Finish Line Area’ will make for a special highlight. In this area, athletics fans can experience the excitement of the running events directly at the finish line. Tickets for the ‘Finish Line Area’ cost between 120 and 135 euros. Discounts will not be available for this category.

Heinrich Clausen, the managing director of the BOC 2009 GmbH organising committee, is looking forward to the starting signal: “With the start of ticket sales for berlin 2009™ on April 2, things are finally getting going. Those interested in tickets can still register to receive updates at www.berlin2009.org. We are looking forward to a great sporting event for Berlin and for Germany.“

The event tickets are also valid on the day of the event as public transportation tickets for travelling to and from the Olympic Stadium (VBB tariff zone Berlin ABC).
