523 days before the first event of the World Championships in Athletics in Berlin , the berlin 2009™ organising committee (BOC 2009) has begun the interview process for volunteers.

Together with the BOC 2009 staff, during a half-hour discussion the ideal area for volunteering is determined for each individual applicant. This will help to guarantee that all of the spectators, athletes, and support teams can best experience the World Championships, and that the volunteers can enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience, as well.

Volunteer manager Kai Apelt is pleased with the early start on the interviews: “These personal interviews are our first opportunity to come into contact with the numerous volunteers, whose time and efforts will help to guarantee the success of the World Championships in Athletics.”

The BOC 2009 is looking for more than 3,500 volunteers for 13 different areas of duties – from guest services to media support to transportation services – in order to implement next year’s largest sporting event in the world.

Anyone interested can find information on the volunteer programme and online applications at www.berlin2009.org.
