Just two weeks after ticket sales began for the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics berlin 2009™, one fifth of the sales goal of 500,000 tickets has already been reached. The Organising Committee is very pleased with the great interest being demonstrated for the World Championships.
“Being able to surpass the 100,000-ticket hurdle in such a short time is a huge success and demonstrates the great interest in the World Championships in Athletics in our home country,” says Michael Mronz, a member of the BOC 2009 Steering Board, commenting enthusiastically on the interest in the berlin 2009™.
The athletics fans have primarily been purchasing their tickets for the largest sporting event worldwide to take place next year through the online ticket shop at www.berlin2009.org. Currently, the event days most highly in demand are those during which the decathlon will be taking place.
Heinrich Clausen, managing director of the BOC 2009 organising committee once more emphasises the exceptionality of the event: “In Berlin, we are certain to even further improve on the excellent atmosphere that existed during the 1993 World Championships in Athletics in Stuttgart. From August 15-23 of next year, the best athletes in the world will gather in the German capital and present us with best performances on every day of the nine days of competition.
Information and tickets for the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics berlin 2009™ are available either online at www.berlin2009.org or by calling the Ticket Hotline: 01805 1 2009 1 (0.14 €/min from the German landlines; cellular prices may vary), as well as at local ticket offices.
